The students of PSY 121-039 had to build a brain and label the parts they thought were most important. The pictures are posted here as part of a competition. Please vote for the brain you like best by commenting with the color of the group. The colors are listed in the caption of each photo. It is not important for you to know all the parts of the brain. Their instructor will grade them on accuracy. Instead, please vote for the brain you think is most creative, or most attractive, or simply, that you like best. Women’s History Month Event!

“The Vagina Monologues” will be presented by College of Lake County students and staff at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 11 as a fundraiser for the CLC Women’s Center.

The award-winning play is based on playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women. Both performances will be held in the in C005 (C Wing Auditorium) on the Grayslake campus and will last 90 minutes. The evening performance will be followed by a 30-minute panel discussion with the actors, directors and Women’s Center staff.

“‘The Vagina Monologues’ is about liberating women from abusive language and behavior, and from the silence in naming their own bodies,” said Teresa Aguinaldo, English instructor and director of the Women’s Center. “Through their brave performances in this college production, students are activists in a too-long campaign to end violence against women.”

The cast consists of CLC students and staff, including Stephanie Gray, Anna Chesman, Dazelle Yvette, Rachel Kelly, Sheila White, Michelle Golden, Ruthe Dembinski, Emilee McGinn and Dawn Byrne. The production is being co-directed by Lynn Harper, communications instructor, and Mick Cullen, human services instructor.

Admission is free, but there is a $7 suggested donation ($5 for CLC students), with proceeds benefitting the CLC Women’s Center Emergency Fund, which assists CLC low-income students and their families, some of whom are survivors of abuse. CLC Sociology Professor to be featured on WGN

Tune in to WGN TV on Wednesday morning, Feb. 17 (tomorrow) to see John Tenuto and friends/students at 7:45 and 8:45 a.m. John will talk about how social issues were portrayed in 1970s TV sitcoms. “Teasers” are scheduled for 7:00, 7:20, 7:39, 8:00 and 8:20.

Comedian Mike Toomey will be there to do his impersonation of Mike Brady from “The Brady Bunch.” Enjoy clips from your favorite 1970s TV shows such as Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, Welcome Back Kotter, All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore Show and That 70s Show.

WGN will also plug John’s upcoming CLC Discovery! class, “Those 70s Shows,” set for March 19.
